We are seeking a GM with strong F&B experience who would enjoy spearheading changes and improvements in all areas of operations.
Lochmoor Club is a prestigious, member owned, 100 year old private club. Members enjoy a beautiful, welcoming clubhouse on scenic grounds of Grosse Pointe, within 15 minutes to Downtown Detroit. The club is located in a beautiful lakefront suburb of Detroit, with offers affordable housing and cost of living. With approximately 520 members, at an average age of 56 years old, the club has a total revenue of ~$6.5M and annual food & beverage sales of ~$2 million. The family friendly club offers: an 18 hole tournament caliber golf course designed by Sweeney/Travis, tennis courts (4 outdoor and 4 indoor hard courts), an outdoor heated pool with a separate kiddie pool, fitness center, driving range and practice area, one of the top private golf shops in the country, along with men's and ladies locker rooms. Dining facilities including 1 main dining room that seats 106, a member’s pub which can accommodate 46, a ballroom which can seat up to 220 guests, 3 private function rooms for 20-30 guests, an outdoor dining area that seats 44 and an 18 seat poolside bar with patio seating for 60.
This outstanding career opportunity is available due to the upcoming retirement of the current General Manager in January 2018, after 17 years at the club and 7 as General Manager.
The General Manager is the club's senior-most staff executive and reports to the President of the Board of Directors. Although Lochmoor Club is rich in history and tradition, it is also progressive and open to change as the economic and demographic needs dictate. An active Board of Directors and Club Committees strategically plan for the future, while retaining some of the successful past. The General Manager will be responsible to direct and oversee all aspects of club operations, to provide quality service and product to the Members. The GM is will need to demonstrate quality leadership and a positive image, and is expected to devote full time and attention to Member satisfaction, operations, planning, and staff performance and coordination.
The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of private club experience as a General Manager, Club Manager, or Assistant Manager. The candidate will be a dedicated team leader who can affect and manage change. He/she will have demonstrated strong financial management skills and budgeting acumen. Marketing skills are essential in continuing to grow sales throughout all revenue areas of operation. Continuous attention to expense control is important. Strong food and beverage skills, providing a hands-on attention to detail approach, are essential for success in this role. He/she must possess the ability to work well with the Board of Governors, Club Committees and Club Staff, providing visionary leadership and guidance. Integrity, visibility, and positive energy are of utmost importance, along with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
A college degree, preferably in Business Management or Hospitality Management is highly desirable. The CCM designation or working towards certification is preferred.
Local candidates or those with ties to the Detroit area or the Midwest are preferred.
