Job Description

A premier upscale hotel in the greater Philadelphia market, with a strong reputation for social catering, is currently looking for an experienced Director of Catering to join our team.  This person should be well versed in all aspects of the catering business and be able to effectively sell and service weddings, bar-mitzvahs and other social and corporate events.

Job Details

GENERAL PURPOSE The Director of Catering  will provide leadership and manage the overall Catering  operation. This is a highly visible role with a focus on short and long term planning. This individual will have individual booking goals and the overall responsibility for meeting or exceeding Catering goals for the hotel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for developing and producing budget recommendations and marketing plans. Achieve budgeted sales and profits in Catering while monitoring the sales performance of the Catering Sales staff. Collaborate with the Culinary Team to create and price inspired Banquet menus. Work closely with the Banquet supervisory team to ensure quality standards are maintained and enhanced. Encourage and support the catering staff in their development of long-term, valuable customer relationships. Promote the story of the  hotel in the market, with the goal of increasing overall profitability of the property. Enhance and grow the online reputation of the hotel.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administration; Achieve monthly budget  goals as established by management and complete all reports and assignments in an accurate and timely fashion. Contribute to the hotel's overall sales goals and develop strong customer relations through frequent communication and the use of professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interaction. Represent themselves, the hotel, with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and a sincere service-focused attitude at all times.

The Director of Catering reports directly to the Director of Sales.


Job Requirements

Minimum of 6 years of progressive Hotel Catering experience with at least 3 years in a senior Catering role.

Ability to effectively lead, inspire, and manage the Catering Team with the utmost integrity

Proven ability to positively interact with socially, economically, culturally, and ethnically diverse clients

Professional verbal and written communication skills

Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

A degree in Hospitality is an asset
